Dante - Strength and Conditioning Coach
Watsonville
Dante is the Strength and Conditioning coach in Watsonville. Unlike many instructors, his journey into martial arts began later in life. He first discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu while living in Redding, training at Rice Brothers Jiu-Jitsu Academy. What started as a new hobby quickly became a passion, leading him to explore boxing and kickboxing as well. In early 2024, he moved back to Salinas and found a new home at Claudio Franca BJJ, where he has been grateful to be welcomed into such a supportive and dedicated community.
With a background in competitive swimming, Dante brings a unique perspective to athletic training. He was a national-level swimmer in high school and college, specializing in distance freestyle and butterfly events. His accomplishments include being a two-time Community College All-American and a multi-event National Qualifier at his four-year university. Dante has trained under Olympic-caliber coaches and understands the discipline and dedication required to perform at an elite level. Throughout his career, he has coached athletes of all ages and skill levels, mentoring some of the top high school and middle school swimmers in Northern California. In addition to his experience as a coach, he has several years of personal training expertise, helping individuals with a wide range of fitness goals.
Outside of the gym, Dante works as an Ambassador for the Hartnell College Foundation’s K-12 STEAM program, supporting educational initiatives in local schools. He also serves as an after-school instructor at Sherwood Elementary, where he is dedicated to mentoring students through the BEST (Behavioral, Emotional, and Social Training) Program. His long-term goal is to return to school and earn his teaching credential.
In his free time, Dante enjoys spending time with his family, friends, and pets. He has a deep appreciation for music, epic poetry, great food, and embracing all that life has to offer.
