Kids Instructor / Brown Belt

I run the kids classes, as well as the adults, NoGi class at the NEW, Claudio França BJJ Scotts Valley location. I grew up in the Midwest (Missouri). I wrestled growing up, and into college. After college I found interest in playing, Rugby. I had to hang up the boots (+20yrs) after moving up to Santa Cruz in December 2016. I started training Jiu Jitsu in 2017. I am currently a brown belt. A rank I received in 2023. I am an avid competitor. Most recently taking 3rd at the 2023 World Masters in Las Vegas (Purple Belt; featherweight). I strongly believe everyone should train some form of self defense. And in my opinion, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is at the top of the list. Beyond the competitions and the medals. It is great for problem solving, building confidence and self esteem, as well as discipline. Jiu Jitsu truly is for everyone!
