Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the California Central Coast
Our teachers and staff bring you the highest quality Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction in a friendly, respectful, family environment. Whether you’re looking for discipline, fitness, sport or self-defense training, we will meet your needs. Our rotating curriculum covers all aspects of grappling, for self-defense and competition, from throws and take-downs to ground work and submissions.
Our community-based method of instruction integrates beginners into ongoing classes with advanced students. Newcomers learn not only from the class instructor, but also from more experienced students, providing a wider pool of knowledge, wisdom and technique. Advanced students, in turn, gain insight by helping beginners to progress. All classes are taught by qualified instructors. We choose our instructors based on teaching ability, technical knowledge, personal integrity, patience, and dedication to the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Students also improve their quality of life through developing their focus, discipline, skill, self-confidence and physical fitness. Jiu-jitsu can provide families with a lifetime of shared memories, personal growth, and common interest.
We cordially invite you to contact us about scheduling a free introductory class.
Professor Claudio Franca awarded Black Belt rank to three long-time students during this academy’s promotion ceremony.
Master Claudio Franca awarded Black Belt distinction to Thomas Rumsey and Sawato Kawamura of Santa Cruz, and Justin Pascone of Salinas. Rumsey, 53, and Kawamura, 27, have been training under Franca for 16 years. Pascone has been training for 10 years.
It was a fabulous day at our CFBJJ Academy. Congratulations to all those awarded a promotion. Professor Claudio Franca wore a smile from ear to ear all day long. Overall it was a great, inspiring and joyous day. We hope everyone enjoyed their day too!
Finally the day arrived and our academy was filled with students, family and friends sharing stories, laughter, a lot of high fives, applause and a few choked up tears. We started the day with our Kids from all of our schools. The kids in our programs have worked hard, learned, trained and are beginning on their exciting paths in BJJ. They are our next generation of competitors and hopefully another generation of our Black Belts. We are proud of the dedication that each and every one of them possesses. We then we moved to our Adults. This brings a successful year for 2014 which recognized the dedication and hard work of everyone from Claudio Franca and Coalition 95 students.
Everyone starts in BJJ for different reasons, but the focus that we try to pass on every day is that we want to help guide the team to becoming Black Belts in Life and in BJJ. And we are so fortunate to have a team who supports each other on the mat and off the mat.
Thank you for everyone that made this happen. If you were not able to attend and still want to donate, please contact Claudio at the Santa Cruz dojo or via your instructor at your local school.
